About This Spot

Stepping into Taco House feels like discovering a cherished neighborhood gem tucked into the heart of Appleton. The space embraces you with an inviting simplicity, where the hum of casual chatter blends with the steady rhythm of the grill. There’s a genuine warmth here—partly from the open kitchen where tortillas toast just long enough to crisp around the edges, and partly from the friendly team who seem to know the neighborhood by heart.

This is a place where time slows just enough to savor the familiar and the unexpected all at once. The mood is relaxed and easygoing, a spot where locals might drop in for a midday bite or gather after work for something heartier, leaning into flavors that feel both rooted in tradition and given subtle, personal twists.

At Taco House, the experience is anchored by its deeply thoughtful approach to Mexican fare. You can sense the care in the way the meat is seasoned, offering something just a little different from the usual taco stand—something that sparks curiosity and invites repeat visits. The salsa, vibrant and lively, adds a nuanced kick that feels like an authentic dialogue with the food rather than a mere afterthought.

This is no rushed meal; it’s about enjoying food that’s crafted with a sense of pride and familiarity. Whether you’re drawn to the classic taco or the generously stuffed burrito, each bite echoes the spirit of the place—modest yet memorable, humble yet full of character.

Those who find their way here often mention the warm service and the communal atmosphere, where the counter is more than just a place to order—it’s where interactions linger, and shared appreciation for bold, honest flavors becomes part of the story.

I stopped into Taco House on their opening day! Definitely one of the better tacos in town!! They only do Mexican style tacos. They leave the corn tortillas on the grill a bit so the tortilla doesn’t fall apart, they have a hint of a crunch and I like it! The salsas are very good. The steak is his own recipe and not like any place in town. I’d say that it has an American flavor to the steak but it’s very good! I’d say definitely the best flavored steak flavor for a taco in town! I really think he hit a home run with the al pastor! It is fantastic! Very Mexican and authentic! The beef tongue was shredded and I prefer cubed but the flavor was very good. They put the most meat in the taco than any other place in town! I would order all of these again!! I’ve also tried the Torta and I am a fan! I am a huge fan of the Torta Cubana and other than no milanesa and chorizo omelet inside, it is fantastic! Probably my favorite Torta in the Fox Valley. I will say, if the exterior of the bun gets grilled, this Torta may be the only sandwich I eat in town! I will be back!!! Welcome to the food scene Taco House!!

Fantastic service, authentic tacos. Love to have the fish and shrimp options as a pescatarian. Nice bite to the red sauce. The loveliest people!

I am visiting from Utah and was looking for a decent taco place, incredibly happy I found this one! The Steak tacos were absolutely fantastic and the Al Pastor was so unique and delicious! I will definitely be visiting again before I leave! I cannot recommend enough!

This place might be small but the food is so good! Guacamole was made fresh when we ordered. Cheese dip was really good, too. Tacos all had great flavors, but the steak was the best! My son loved his burrito. The mild salsa was too spicy for me (I'm a wimp), but my son loved it.

I have been to the Taco House twice. They have, by far, the BEST steak burritos I have ever! These things are so stuffed they can stand on their own! What ever type of seasoning they use on their steak is nothing like I've tasted before. I had tried their nachos the first time. Which were very tasty. I brought my husband their yesterday and we both had the steak burrito and steak quesadilla. I recommend the Taco House to anyone who is in search of the most delicious authentic Mexican food.
